Ashford’s Peter Davey had a terrific day in the Southern Counties Veterans Indoor Championships at Lee Valley with a hat-trick of medals.
Peter, who regularly turns out for the Ashford men’s team during the summer, entered three events – 60 metre hurdles, his specialist event, 60 metres sprint and High Jump, in the V35 age group.
His efforts in training, particularly on Wednesday evenings, were rewarded with two gold and a bronze medal.
Especially pleasing was his gold in the 60 metre hurdles where he made a significant improvement on his personal best time from 9.04 seconds to 8.92 seconds. Peter added another gold medal in the High Jump, clearing 1.60m.
Completing his treble Peter clocked 7.62 seconds for the bronze medal in the 60 metre sprint.
Peter now looks forward to making improvements to the high hurdles during the summer competitions.
